A day at the OSCARS

Woke up this morning feeling a little rather excited. It was the day of OSCAR test meaning I'm currently at 12 weeks! YAY! Though I found myself to be pregnant only at week 7. The 5 weeks to this milestone seemed like eternity. Hubby wasn't free to take leave today, thus mummy accompanied me to the hospital for the check up.

Picked mum up at 8am then headed to TMC. The first thing I did at TMC was to sign up for the First Born Incentive (FBI) card. This will entitle me to a 10% discount off my OSCAR testing. Moreover there were freebies that came along with the card. Thus for $148, we'll probably be getting more value out of the card. What I didn't like was along with the card, I had to fill in 5-8 other information forms from the various baby product companies. I guess by filling in the information, I'll probably get some milk samples and freebies in return? Hopefully not spamming.

Then I headed to WC Cheng and Associates, took my little red book out and stood on the antique looking weighing machine to weigh myself. WOOPS! My weight has increased by 1.5kg since the last weigh in 2 weeks ago... gotta eat right but cut down on my sugary stuff. Checked in with the nurse to slot my appointment booklet with her then headed up to the 4th floor for the oscar test.

The wait for the scan wasn't long since I already booked my time slot at 9am. I think the nurses there must be thinking I'm Kiasu or something. 9am appointment come at 830am. Sat around waiting for about 5 mins before my name was called. Went into the ultrasound room alone first, sonographer checked my details before commencing on the scan.

It was AMAZING!!! For the very first time, I can see my baby using the scan from the top of my belly (previously it was too smal too scan through my layers of FATS). The scan was so detailed so clear. We could see the baby's head, bum, nose and even the fingers and toes. Baby was so CUTE!! The feeling of being able to see him/her on the screen was totally undescrible. After taking all the measurements that was needed, the sonographer then called my mum in to take a look at the baby. Mum was EXCITED. The sonographer even said that the baby has a sharp nose and was sleeping with the hand over the head. All mum could say was" So cute! So cute!" I could tell that she was really HAPPY!

After about 15-20mins with the sonographer we thanked her and proceeded on to do the next step. Collect Urine sample then to the lab to draw blood. My initial impression from reading off forums was that I needed to take only 3 test tubes of blood. The lab assistant first strapped my left arm to locate a suitable vein. After tapping a few times, i told her usually most will take from my right arm cos the veins on my left are too big. She looked at me then strapped my right arm to check for the vein. After she agreed that it was the better arm to draw blood from, she inserted the needle. Obviously I didn't look at her insert it as I was a scary cat to do so. So I stared at the blank white wall to my left. Then she drew not 3 but 5 tubes of blood *_*.

After that I headed down then for my gynae appointment. Saw the Dr within 5 mins and told me that baby is doing well. =) So super HAPPY.
