Am I a Bad Mummy?

Its just over 3 weeks now that Baby Ryan has entered our lives. Things have changed a lot. My whole life now only has one focus and its Ryan and his needs. A little helpless baby who depends on his cries to communicate with the adults around him. At times its hard to tell what he needs or wants, but I try my best.

My first instinct is that he is always hungry. I mean what more can babies want besides milk, sleep and a diaper change. Since he wakes from his sleep that probably means it could be either of the two. Hunger beats a diaper change I reckon thus I often put him to feed first. The past few days have been difficult. He wakes very often every hour or so even at night. At times I wonder if I'm over feeding him causing him a tummy ache. He suckles very well as though he's hungry but i realised that that may not be the case as he suckles then somewhat cringes and stretches which is not normal. I thought at first perhaps its a growing stage where he really needs to stretch.. at times he lets out a short cry as well. Being a first time mummy, i didn't really know what was going on. Soon he started to spit milk out. It didn't concern me that much as spitting is a normal syndrome of some babies. As he doesn't cry incessantly i did rule out colic or trap wind. I started burping him but i rarely hear a burp even after 10 mins. It was till last night that I saw a projectile vomit that I got scared. What was wrong with baby? Am i over feeding him, but he shows signs of hunger everytime I carry him from his cot... so if I don't feed him what can it be? Am i a bad mummy who cause this discomfort to my precious baby? I'm not rushing off to the PD once again. Gonna start monitoring him first.

I'm really thankful for my mum. Though she's often over excited and kan cheong over the baby. Her presence makes me calmer when dealing with the baby. She helps in my thought processes especially in the middle of the night when I'm alone with baby and such problems occur. She has suggested that I start burping baby on my shoulder instead of the sitting up right position and continue to monitor... So far it has worked. Baby has been asleep since 8+ this morning till now 11+ without a wake to feed yet. Must have been the overfed milk that is still in his tummy keeping him comfortable. Longest time he has every slept.

Oh I just jinxed it.. he's crying. Off for a feed. Till next week.

A mummy of TWO weeks and counting.....

Has it already been two weeks, I ask myself. It seemed only like yesterday that I had baby wee inside my tummy showing off his Kungfu moves.

Having him in my arms in a real joy. His angelic face melts my heart each time I look at him. No matter how tough being a mom is. I will try my very best to be his best mum.

The past 2 weeks has been topsy turvy for me. It seem like I had to learn so suddenly. It wasn't easy for me or my hubby. There's a saying that no matter how much prep you do, there is nothing in this world that can prepare you for parenthood. All my months of reading the books to understand babies and what to expect from little baby Ryan seemed to have been flushed out my system when i PUSHED him out. My mind now is a mental blank on what I read. I learnt to be a mom through hands on experience over the past 2 weeks plus.

Things that have happened so far:

1) Gush of blood on day 4/5- Lochia which gave me a scare when I went to the toilet cos I've never seen so much blood in my life before. At that very moment, I thought I was going to bleed to death. I was still hurting from my sore wound then. Went to the toilet thinking I had constipation and decided to give a little push and GUSH came out lots of blood. I got so scared I was crying and had to go to the hospital at 4am in the morning.

2) Breastfeeding: I'm one of the lucky mummies who have a supply of milk for my baby. I was often worried about not being able to supply Baby Ryan with milk. Afterall breast milk is the best for babies at least for the first year. Whether I'm able to do it for the year I don't know but I'll try as long as possible at least till i start working next April. Before birth, I already noticed colostrum. To mummies out there, I was adviced by nurse at my gynae to start massaging since week 37. On day 3 after birth, while i was still in hospital (luckily we made the decision to stay an additional night to get me to recover better before heading home) I experience some slight engorgement. Thankfully the nurse at TMC was able to help me and asked me to pump to release the milk. On day 3 I was already pumping 30ml. That's good supply said the nurse and the docs to me. So far supply has been sufficient for his demands, lets hopes it continues.

3) Heat Rash & Nasal Congestion: After a particular someone visited, Ryan had heat rash the very next day and nasal congestion the day after. WHY? All because the particular someone who was inconsiderate enough to come visit even though she was sick and brought her kids who were also sick direct from childcare to visit Ryan. HOW inconsiderate can someone get? Heat Rash was not her fault but the sight of the rash scared me into thinking it could be HFMD. Luckily not. I noticed then that Ryan had difficulty breathing as though nose was slightly blocked on a Friday night. Brought him to the PD to get a check and he had some nasal congestion. Being only 15 days old, there was no medicine that could be prescribed to him. Thus had to use saline and apparatus to suck out the mucus. After 2 days of diligence in monitoring him, THANK GOD he's much better. It was horendous having to go through those two days.

4) Baby's First Month Party : I planned this sooo long ago but having Ryan fallen sick with the nasal congestion, hubby and I have decided to scrape this plan. Having a party for 160+ people is really not worth the risk for my baby's health. Deep inside I really want to have a party for him... but how can I cut down the numbers... Relatives, Friends... who to invite who not to invite. Is this really a ALL or Nothing case... so damn vexed over this. The decision now is to scrape the whole event but I'm really longing for a party to show off my handsome prince.

5)Confinement: Generally I'm okay with it but I think its not healthy for my mental state of mind. Why so? I have little help and I'm the only care giver to Ryan at home. My duties started the day I came home from hospital and its still on going. Though I'm staying at my mum's place. Mum has no experience in caring for infants/kids. Thus she can only carry him for a short while or watch over him as he sleeps while i rest for a little while. Food wise normal nutritious food but nothing really confinement like as i expected it to be. Mum bought a book to follow but I've not really seen any of the dishes yet.

6) Post Natal Blue: Admittedly I have it. I know i do and I shan't deny it. Even the PD mentioned that I looked really tired and need a lot of rest. Thanks Dr Nancy Tan for your care and concern.

I'm still learning how to be a mum. I hope I can be a good mum to baby ryan.

Till I have time for my next post.

Announcing the Arrival of Our not so Little Prince

Today was meant to mark the 40th week of BABY WEE in mumy's tummy.
However Baby Wee decided to join in the number game of 26 to match mummy's day of birth and our wedding date. Baby Wee decided to join us on the 26th of Nov 2010.

Here's pieces of what I can remember of his birth story.
Date: 26th Nov
Time:2:08am
Mummy woke up feeling slightly crampy. Didn't think much of it as I was already having the very suan suan feeling for the past few days. However this cramp came and went away.

Time:2:48am
The tingling crampy pain came again. This time I was thinking to myself could it be contractions. Was rather tired thus didn't really take note except for the time.

Time: Between 3:08am and 5+am
Contractions seemed to be regular. Often found myself thinking. Is this contractions or just cramp cos baby was definately lower down near the V area so maybe his weight is pressing on some nerve causing the pain. Moreover the pain was at the pelvic area rather than the lower abdominal area. To me I always had the assumption that contractions occured in the lower abdominal area.

Time:5:30am -7:00am
Contractions started to be very regular at intervals of 8 mins apart each lasting 30 secs. I used the iPad application to time this. I wanted to be sure seeing that this was my first time being a mum. I had mixed feelings if I was being over sensitive or was it the really thing. By 6:30am I decided to wake hubby (who was sleeping very soundly throughout the night cos there was no reason for me to alarm him to wake him up). Asked his opinion and he asked me to call the hospital to clarify. ME having the mixed feelings took my time in thinking if I should call cos I still at this point wasn't sure if it was THE DAY. Called hospital and they asked me to go down to monitor.

Time:7:00am -8:00am
Took my last shower and washed my hair before waking hubby up fully to head down to the hospital. Hubby was rather excited, I could tel as he was deciding on what to wear to recieve his little one. He ended up wearing a pink shirt and white berms. On the way to the hospital, we dropped by mum's to pick up the CordLife luggage.

Time:8:08am
Checked into the delivery ward and was assigned bed D of the observation rooms. Was sharing room with another lady.

Time:8:15am
A nurse came to do a VE on me. OMG that was so damn painful when she inserted her fingers down there and did some scrapping and digging. I almost screamed!!!! Then again all VEs are painful i think though DR Tan may be much gentler.

Time:8:20am-8:30am
Dr WK Tan came in to check on me. Told me I was 1cm dilated so long way more to go. She inserted a pill to soften the cervix then asked me to order some breakfast. Had some chicken congee.

Time:11:30am
Nurse came to insert something to clear my bowels. This was a standard procedure for all deliveries in case bowels came flying out instead of baby when pushing. Nurse told me to hold it in for 5 mins before heading to the toilet. However the medicine was so effective that it self released itself at the 3 min mark. So super pai seh as I made a mess of the bed. It was however rather watery. Took a shower the went back to lie on the bed.

Time:12:00pm
Contractions were getting much worst. Each time it came i had to hold hubby's hand. He was very encouraging by saying I can do this (since we both agreed to try not to have epidural). The nurse asked if I wanted pain relief. I asked for the gas. Gas made me a little high and drowsy but it was effective of only about an hour.

Time:12:30pm
Wheeled in delivery suite to wait. I did remember thinking was this it? Am I going to deliver now and get out of this pain? Unfortunately not. They just wheeled me in, that's it. The suite was much nicer then the observation room. It was also much CHILLIER. soooo super cold.

Time:1:20pm
By this time, contractions were arm breaking. Literally. I almost broke my hubby's finger when I squeezed his hand with his ring finger on it. He also screamed at the pain but not at me. Dr WK Tan came into delivery suite to check on me. She asked if I wanted any pain relief and I asked her what she would recommend and seeing that I was crying and in so much pain, she said best to go for epidural. So I said Ok. Let's do epidural. In the midst of my drowsy state I know there was alot of commotion of nurses and doctors prepping for the epidural. Hubby could not be in the room when this was being administered. Dr Tan put me on an IV drip for hydration purposes and Dr Chong did the epidural. Just before he inserted the needle as I was lying on my side I had one more painful contraction. This time there was a nurse holding on to my hand. With the contractions, I told Dr Chong to hold the insertion. Little did i realise that I was actually pinching the nurses hand due to the intense pain. The nurse looked at me and said. Don't pinch me. I blurry looked at her and saw that my index and thumb were pinching a skin of hers. I immediately let go and smiled. Epidural was then inserted. Within 5-10mins i felt so much better. However I got the side effects of epidural which was shivering. I rather shiver then feel the pain which was completely out of this world. Hubby came back in and i thought that he might be disappointed with me but he said its ok and he thought I was really brave to have lasted so long. Sooo sweet.

With the epidural, I was now able to get some rest before the delivery.

Time:2pm-5pm
On and off i lapsed into dream periods. Nurses came in to check on me frequently. Hubby went to have some early dinner. 4cm dialted I was told. Halfway there.

Time:5:30pm
Nurse did a check, 8-9cm dialted. Foetal hearbeat seemed like he was in distress. Notified DR Tan and was told to start pushing. By this time I couldn't really feel my legs but I used alot of strength to try my best and push. Hubby also had to opportunity to see baby's head rimming.

Time: 6pm
Dr Tan came into the suite and tried to ask me to push more. Then she covered the area with sterlie surgical cloth and I saw her with some cutting and stiching equipment.

Time:6:16pm
Dr Tan asked me to use all my might to push with this last contractions. Together with an assisted vaccum cup. Baby was BORN! Time check: 1816.

Baby came out crying but was quite after he got cleaned up. While mummy was being stiched up, daddy went to take photos of baby's weight and length measurements.

SO here's a BIG welcome to our Not so Little Prince.

Today marks 39 weeks exactly.

According to the original prediction of Baby Wee's EDD, we have 7 more days to go till we see him. From the trends of forum mummies and some other friends and relatives, most mummies tend to have given birth between week 38 and 39 but Baby Wee is still comfy inside mummy's womb.

From the gynae's checkup yesterday, Dr Tan says that Baby Wee is doing good inside. He is currently 3.45kg. Water Level is good. Mummy's blood pressure is good. When asked if he's too big for delivery via natural and if he should be induced, Dr Tan says if the environment inside is good then let him be natural. Inducing stresses the baby and may not even be succesful which may result in an emergency C-Sect. She continued to explained all the risk of inducing as well. 42 weeks is the max baby can stay inside. At least one more week she says then it will be anytime from there. 1 more week means Baby Wee will be FULL term baby. 40 weeks! Never expected though Mummy has been wishing that Baby Wee is a Dec Baby to be the same month as Papa Wee. =)

Over the last weekend, mummy and papa spent quality time together. As they thought it was going to be their last weekend as a couple.
Sat, they went to Suntec for some Pho followed by buying Ryan another bedding set and the Waffles for tea. After which they headed home to rest then went to The Ship for some Steak.
On Sun, they went to Equinox for a champagne brunch and actually ended up eating for 4 hours. The setting was lovely but it was a little warm. Papa had so much champagne that he was HIGH and saying silly things to mummy making mummy smile so much. It was a lovely Sunday afternoon spent together.

Grandma sewed Baby Wee 2 lovely beansprout pillows as well. Yay!!! Baby Wee is a lucky baby.

Mummy's starting to get more aches and pains these few days. Its probably due to the body softening up and prepping for the arrival of Baby Wee. Time to rest more before sleepless nights begin. =)

On a different note, this is what PAPA said to baby wee this morning: "Be good and stay in there at least for today ok? I've got one last flight before I'm grounded for your arrival." SO SWEET this papa.

Till next week. Hopefully one more post before baby wee comes along.

2 Weeks Left of Couplehood...

Today marks 38 weeks of Baby Wee.

This week baby weighs 3.2kg. Mummy was rather concern as to whether she can give birth to Baby Wee naturally as the average weight of a newborn is between 2.5kg to 4kg. Being in Singapore, I guess the range will be much smaller. From what I've heard and read so far, a newborn should weigh between 2.5kg-3.5kg. During the last checkup, baby's weight JUMPED by 300g each week so I'm rather concern that he will be oversized at birth and thus will have to do a C-Sect instead of natural birth. Checked with Dr Tan this week. For her the MAX weight before a C-Sect will be 4kg. HENG ah!

C-Sect vs Natural Birth
I've always been one for natural birth. I keep telling myself, if the women of the past can give birth naturally with no pain killers and what so ever, I can too. Am I being too brave for my own good? I wonder. I keep telling myself with natural birth is a one off pain (for the delivery) while C-Sect takes a few days to recover. Yet natural birth has issues of tearing and episiotomy which isn't much fun either. I guess both ways somethings got to hurt. I mean just imagine a BABY coming out from down there... erm is it even possible? I guess so seeing how much my belly has been able to stretch to accomodate baby Wee. Oh well, we'll see what happens on the day of delivery. What will it be? All natural or natural with epidural or....

Congrats to Flin & Lawyer Tan on the birth of their son Baby D yesterday evening (15th Nov 2010). A short labour of only 3 hours. I do hope mine's not too long as well.

On a different note, Papa has begin preparing for labour and this is how he's done it. He bought an iPad. =P

Till next week ( I think I have one more post before I go into delivery) =)

Today marks 37 weeks. I'm currently 3kg. What a chubba bubba I am! Hopefully I won't give mummy too much of a hard time during labour. Will try my best to be gentle when squeezing out. =)

Last weekend was the long depavali weekend. Mummy got to spend lots of time with Daddy. So she was a happy mummy. Most importantly she got some maternity shots done. Purely NOT professionally taken as this was done at home. =) Here are some shots.

The False Alarm

Today marks 36 weeks exactly.

Little Bubba has definately grown alot in the past few weeks and how do we know this is so? Mummy's tummy stretch marks are increasingly obvious and more and more are appearing. She has already "ren ming" (left it to fate) to the stretch marks already and can only hope that they will subside after the delivery.

Wed was ah chor's cremation day. Mummy couldn't go to the crematorium due to pantang reasons thus daddy represented our little family.

In the evening after dinner, mummy started to have very tight tummy pains above the belly button. It was so painful that she could neither sit, lie or walk. Every position seemed painful. After about an hour of pain, mummy and daddy decided to go to the hospital to have the tummy checked. Not knowing how contractions feel like, mummy and daddy thought.. OH NO is it time already? They are not prepared for my birth yet although I know they'll do just fine even if I were to come out right now. Mummy was placed in the observation ward where only daddy was allowed inside. A CTG scanner was places on her tummy to observe any contractions. While under observation, I showed off my dancing skills to daddy by moving about mummy's belly. It was good entertainment for them. They were in there for about an hour till Dr WK Tan came to do a check up on mummy. It was good that she had a delivery that very evening and thus was able to see mummy at the same time. End result : FALSE ALARM! Dr Tan mentioned that contractions are usually below the belly button not above. WOOPSIE! Now we know. =)

Even though it was a false alarm, mummy and daddy learnt something from this experience. Daddy managed to timed how long it will take to get to the hospital and he also thought of the things he needs to bring to the hospital to "kill time" while waiting for me to come out. So I think they are a little better prepared now. =)

Most of the rest of the week, Daddy spent his time clearing work while mummy rested lots. Attending the wake was rather tiring on her but she's a strong woman and was able to hold up. Now she just rest lots at home to make up for it.

Sunday:
Mummy and Daddy went to the Philips Carnival Fair to check out BB monitors. One of the last few items they needed to buy for me. It was so NOISY so they quickly bought what they needed and got out of there. They bought me a bottle warmer, a baby monitor and a few other teats for when I'm older. Daddy bought a new hi-fi system for the office too. It was worth going as most items were rather discounted. They even got a free rice cooker. =)

In the evening, we went to our Chan Cousins house for halloween. Next year I'll be able to join them in the candy collections. =) What shall I wear?? Hmmm...

I think I've put on more weight since my last weigh in @ the doctors. Next appt will be on Monday. Can't wait. 28 days or less to go. =)

A sad week for the entire family.

Today marks 35 weeks. 5 weeks or less to go. Is mummy and papa prepared? Erm.... not to sure but i hope so.

22nd October 2010 (Fri)
Had the usual routine check up Dr WK Tan. Baby is doing well. So is mummy. He is now 2.4kg as of 34 weeks. Seems like baby wee is putting on 200g per week. At this rate he's going to be born weighing 3.6kg at birth. Hope he's not considered too big to go through the birth canal. I'm really hoping for an all natural birth. Don't want to do C-section unless really no choice.

After the checkup, mummy and papa went to the Baby Fair held at EXPO. The fair was really small but we mananged to get a 4 in 1 baby cot and the parklon play mat for baby wee. Good buys I must say. Other than that we bought a rubber mat for bath as well as a dress for mummy and a nursing cover.

23rd October 2010 (Sat)
12:40 am - My Phone received an SMS but was fast asleep so I did not respond.
"Ah Ma has passed away"
12:44am - Anothe SMS came in.
"Stay home" (probably cos I'm pregant and mum didn't want me to go down immediately)
2:04am - Another SMS came in. This time I was awaken by the SMS cos I had to head to the toilet.
"Will need chinese names for obituary. Call me when awake."

Upon reading these 3 smses, I froze. I woke hubby up to tell him and then the tears started flowing from there. Couldn't get to sleep after. Stayed awake in bed for the next 3 hours, even went online for a bit just to try to get my mind off things. Finally slept at about 5+ before waking up at 8+am. Had breakfast with my parents before heading home to rest for abut then headed to grandma's to pay my respects. Seeing her in the coffin for the first time broke my heart. However I do know that she is in a better place in the hands of God. She has finally regained her freedom which her physical body constrainted her for the past 4 years.

Before her illness struck her 4 years ago, I remember grandma to be one who was very active, energetic and a go getter. Ah ma was the greatest woman that I will ever know in my life time. Although she was seen as our Empress Dowager but we know that she loved each and everyone of us. She truly cared and this was evident through her actions.

What will I remember her for I asked myself today:

Single handedly she raised her 6 kids after my ah gong passed away over 30 years ago. She ensured that they were brought up well and had good families. Each of her 13 grand childern also were showered with Love. I remember how she loved to cook a feast for the entire family on Sundays. After cooking an entire morning , she will then sit at the head of the table in her pyjamas and just enjoy watching us feast away at her cooking. She will not eat much but there were always so much smiles from her knowing how much we enjoyed eating what she had prepared.

As active as she was, she also enjoys buying food from all over singapore and then buy 5 extra packets and go to each of her children's houses and drop off the food for their families. She ensured that all her grandchildren had as much education as possible. Even if our parents couldn't really afford it, grandma will sponsor a part of our education. It is with Thanks to grandma that I had a chance to go to australia to study. Thanks Grandma.

Ah ma also had a love for food. She loved to eat out and whenever she felt like having a meal outside she'll ring our house to ask if we wanted to head out to eat. Going out for lunch somehow seemed like an adventure and we never ever rejected her call.

Grandma also loved to travel lots. In her life, she's travelled to so many countries. Once she even paid an adult fare for me (when I was still a kid) to go with her to Japan on a holiday. This was so that I could share a room with her. That was how much she loved us.

Grandma was great in many ways. Be it her love for her kid/ grandkids or her foresight in property and business. She seemed to always be very sharp when it came to dealing with difficult situations as well. Grandma was just amazing in her own way.

I ♥ You Grandma. You will definately be very much missed my me. Thank you for taking care of us all these years.

Love

Meiyan

6 weeks or less to go... Are we prepared?

Today marks baby wee being 34 weeks old.
In about 6 weeks or less he is going to come out and see the world with his very own eyes. Just this morning at breakfast, I asked hubby "Do you think we are prepared? It maybe less than 6 weeks time before he pops." Hubby said "Don't worry, I think we are prepared."

I guess to a certain extent I know deep inside that no matter how prepared one is, no one can ever be prepared for parenthood. What I can prepare before hand is only the material stuff like the detergent, diapers, bottles..etc.... and some knowledge on how to handle a newborn. Hopefully to some extent my time spent reading the books and internet resources will prove useful when it comes to the pratical sessions. I know that I won't be the perfect mum but what I can promise myself is I'll try my best.

Hubby has been very very busy at work. Often coming home at like 3am, 5am almost the whole of last week. I think it is going to be the same for this week as well. I'm really glad that he does make the effort though to try and spend some time with me. He touches my watermelon sized belly as a sign of affection for his son from time to time even when driving. He's such a darling.

Last Sat was a fruitful day. Our intention was only to head to Suntec to checkout Carrefour for some stuff as well as use some vouchers at Pan West before it expires. However this was what we ended up with.

We ended up at the John Little SALE which was having 20% storewide. It was unplanned but since we haven't bought most of our stuff (cos we were waiting for the baby fair @ expo) and it was going at 20% off, we thought WHY NOT? Hubby was so cute cos when I asked him about some of the stuff if it was necessary his reply was alway since its 20% off why not. In the end we spent over $500 on baby stuff that day. This I must say was a fruitful day of shopping for Baby Wee.

We aren't left with much stuff to purchase (or so I think). Big ticket items still remains. We'll be heading down to the Baby Fair this Friday after seeing Dr WK Tan. Hopefully more loots =).

In the correct position.

Today marks week 33.

Mummy started the day of by feeding me MacDonald's for breakfast. Its been sometime since she had it so she thought why not? Yummy Sausage and Egg MacMuffin with Hashbrown and a cup of orange juice (Mummy cannot take coffee and tea due to the caffine content.)

On Sat, Mummy and Daddy headed to Thomson Medical Centre to see Dr Tan. It was a routine check up. While waiting to see the Dr Tan, mummy bumped into a friend F. Looks like I'm going to have another playmate next year. Auntie F is currently about 11 weeks pregant. YAY! I'm such a lucky boy to have so many playmates who will be born around the same time. I'm curently 2kg as of 32 weeks. Consistently I'm gaining 200grams a week. That's good weight gain on my side. Mummy on the other hand is also putting on consistently due to the good food that she is feeding me with but Dr Tan says that she is managing her weight very well. =) Dr also mentioned that I'm in the best position of delivery and is unlikely to change anymore as there isn't much space to move in the womb. Here's an illustration of what I look like in mummy's tummy.

Mummy has been feeling a lot of movements on the left side of her tummy. Its probably my arms and legs that are trying very hard to get a stretch. =) Its my way of saying mummy I ♥ You!

We went to ComCentre to get a new phone for Papa before mummy headed to lunch with her best friends from secondary school. They want to penang place for a buffet. It was cheap but the selection and standard of the food seemed to have dipped a little. After lunch mummy headed home to sleep before dinner plans with Papa and Baby D's parents. We all headed to have some Yummy Korean food at Tanjong Pagar. It was soooooo YUMMY. Good authentic korean food. Mummy had I Ox Rib soup and there was beef bulgogi and seafood pancake for everyone to share. SLURP!

Sunday was a lovely day spent at home in aircon comfort as it was very very hot outside. Singapore's weather is getting warmer these days. In the late afternoon, mummy, daddy and grandma and grandpa went to check out the location for my first month old celebration. Its likely going to be held in a glass function room. =) Where's this place? For now its a secret.

Mummy is getting all excited about my one month old party. She is already thinking of themes, cakes and catering. I'm glad that these thoughts are keeping her busy at the moment because Papa has been very busy at work and thus doesn't really have the time to spend with her. I'm trying hard to tell mummy that I'm with her all the time by kicking and stretching throughout the day so its okay if Papa is busy at work. =)

7 more weeks more to go.. isn't time flying by really fast? I know there are lots of aunties and uncles who can't wait to see me and pinch my chubby cheeks. Please don't pinch too hard ok? Mummy also says that they must disinfect their hand first before touching me as my immunity will be very low during the first month. =)

Till next week with more updates.

Zoom Zoom.. time is flying by

Zoom Zoom Zoom...

Today marks the 8th month that baby R has been in my tummy. The kicks are getting stronger nowadays. He's awake more often especially after meals. I'm not sure if its a correlation with his appetite in the future but I'll be really happy if he's not a fussy eater and eats really well.

Birthday celebrations lasted over a week. On Tuesday 28th Sept, had dinner with my parents at long beach restaurant. Chilli Crab! YUM! Then on Thursday, met up with connie my long long time housemate for dinner at Vivo. It was really fun meeting up with her once again. We had spanish food followed by dessert at Fruit Paradise.

On Sat, went for the cord life seminar with baby Declan's parents. At the seminar, we bought our very first Huggies diapers for baby R. Was relatively cheaper =). At 4pm we headed for our last pre-anenatal class. This time class was about breast feeding and engorgement. Really hoping that breast feeding baby R will be smooth sailing without hiccups. =)

On Sun, papa had work to clear so we were home almost the whole day. Even ordered in Pizza for lunch. Yummy!! Its been so long since we had pizza hut. At about 7pm we headed to vivo to have dinner at Sushi Tei before walking around a little then heading home to rest in prep for a new work week. =)

Mummy also found someone's blog on how to survive confinement. http://www.chanlegacy.com/2009/01/12/i-survived-confinement/
She wonders if she can tahan not showering for 1 month.... ={

Happy Birthday to Mummy!

Today marks 31 weeks.

Not long now... another 9 weeks or less I'll be out and about to see the world through my own eyes.

The past week has been rather eventful.

TUESDAY
Mummy met up with Auntie LiEr and Huizhi for their long overdue gathering. Once again with good company comes good food. They all ate untill so full full. Had Jap food at Watami Raffles City followed by Fruit Paradise Tarts. Mummy felt that Fruit Paradise has dropped in quality of their presentation of their food and tea.

THURSDAY
It all started with Thursday 23rd Sept where we went to see Dr WK Tan for an appointment. Daddy is so nice to take leave and accompany mummy to the Docs. Mummy really appreciates how daddy takes time off just to go with her to see me. Checkup was good as usual. Heartbeat was really strong and I now weigh 1.6kg as of 30.something weeks. Its a good size says the Dr. Mummy and Daddy were able to see my defined spinal cord structure. Daddy event commented that he saw my jaw line. I'm now head down with my bum bum towards mummy's chest. So the movement she gets above the tummy is usually my bum or legs. =) Mummy's blood pressure and sugar levels are fine. Just that her bloodcount is a little low (that explains why sometimes she feels a little giddy rather easily). So guess what's for dinner?

After the checkup, mummy and daddy headed to Jones for some brunch. Yummy food as usual though their hot chocolate was somewhat not up to the usual standard today. Headed home to rest and relax (as daddy came home only at like 4am the previous night due to work) before heading out to Shaw Centre for some YUMMYLICIOUS steak for dinner then some shopping at Isetan.

FRIDAY
Friday was boring. Mummy had to attend a full day retreat @ work. She was sooo looking fwd to the end of the day as Daddy said that he should be back by 7pm to have dinner with her. At the end of the day, due to work once again, daddy only picked mummy at 9:20pm. By the time they had dinner at Newton it was already closed to 10pm. Mummy was not too happy with that. On the way home mummy actually vomitted. She thinks its due to the hunger pangs of waiting that's why giddy then puke. Luckily daddy had puke bags in the car for standby. Sooo SMART my papa.

SATURDAY
During her sleep last night, mummy had a very emotional dream. It felt so real that she was really moody (esp since daddy was really late for dinner and didn't really apologise for being late as well). She woke up sobbing away and felt really emotional somehow. In reality she knew it was some hormones playing up but she couldn't control the tear flow. After daddy woke up, he asked her what's wrong and she said nothing. Daddy was nice enough though to cook breakfast for the two of them. So sweet hor. Mummy felt slightly better after that.

At noon, Mummy met up with Aunties L, Y and M for lunch. This was their way of celebrating her birthday for her. It as become a custom that they usually go out for meals on any of their birthdays. Went to dempsey Pamplemousse. Food was Yummy. Desserts on the other hand, not so great.

After lunch, Mummy and Daddy went for Pre-Anenatal class. Their 4th class covered how to change and bathe ME when I come into this world. Daddy was really hands on with the diapers and Nappy. Mummy thinks he'll be perfect when it comes cleaning my smell poo poo. *Grins*

Dinner was spent with my cousins, auntie and grandma. Had dinner at Lao Beijing. Another delicious meal!

SUNDAY
This day started when the clocked stroke midnight. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY! Daddy surprised with a chocolate cake from Perla. Mummy was happily watching TV in the bedroom when daddy said he was going to get some milk from the fridge. Daddy then opened the bedroom door with a loud "AH!!!!" it was so hilarious because all mummy saw was a cake in his hand and the plastic knife in the other but the candle was already blown out. Apparently when daddy opened the bedroom door, a draft of wind was created thus blowing the candle out. Daddy had to go back to the kitchen for a TAKE 2. Mummy was so happy that daddy planned a cake at midnight. So they had cake for supper and breakfast the next day.

Lunch was with Auntie Erica @ Sun and Moon Wheelock. Daddy represented the 3 of us at Auntie Jean and Uncle James's wedding lunch. Mummy didn't go as it is not advisable for one to attend someone's wedding on their birthday. The pantang issue. Daddy joined mummy after the wedding. They did some shopping at Isetan ( daddy bought golf stuff and they bought a new Tiger Thermos Air Pot in preparation for me). After that daddy brought mummy to Sentosa for dinner. The view was GREAT setting was nice but the food though meant to be fine dining was so so only. Entering Sentosa for dinner was expensive. They now charge $7 per vehicle entry before 7pm on weekends which Daddy and Mummy found to be rather absurd. Oh well, now we know. =)

Mummy also said that I was a very good boy throughout her birthday as I was constantly kicking her to tell her I love her and Happy Birthday. =) Next year I can spend it with her! Maybe even help her to blow the candle out! =)

Till next week,
Ciaos

From Kungfu to Disco

Today marks 30 weeks.

In about 10 weeks time, I'll be out to see the world through my very own eyes. I kick mummy less often now but she feels me very often through my stretches. At times I do some dance moves in the womb that mummy's belly starts to wobble heaps. That's why she now names me the disco baby. =)

On sat, mummy met some other mummies @ Olive Tree Hotel Intercontinental for high tea. It was a nice session where they were able to chit chat and enjoy the lovely afternoon. Mummy loved the waffles there as it was really crispy. =) After that mummy and daddy had their 3rd pre-anenatal class. This time class was on labour. Watching the video for 30 mins made mummy cringe a lot. She looked at daddy often and squeezed his hand throughout the video. Daddy only smiled and said "Its too late now. =P"

AH!!! Are those.... STRETCHMARKS?

Today marks 29 weeks.

According to the lillypie counter on this blog I have only about 77 Days to go which is about 11 weeks. Wow!!! Time does fly doesn't it. It was not too long ago that I thought I just crossed the first trimester.

Had a long weekend doing nothing much. It was a time to catch up on rest.

Friday:
Hubby played golf on in the afternoon while I used the time to catch up on sleep. Picked him up after and we headed to my in-laws for dinner. One of my nephews and nieces was there. I noticed that although they were both having some fried kuey teow. One had veggies while the other didn't. So i decided to ask the little girl how come she didn't have any. She replied: "Cause I don't like." On the topic of kids being picky about food, this is something I don't really agree with. Its not like we are forcing you to eat something spicy or bitter, its just veggies. So being a meanie auntie (hubby always says I'm like the Witch Aunty that they are scared of, I mean its good to be at least afraid of one adult in the house right?) I picked off her brother's plate a few pieces of veggie and placed it on her plate and said "If you want to grow up strong, you must eat some ok?" She nodded in agreement and ate it down without any fuss. So what's it about not giving her veggies just because she says she don't like it.. this is something I don't understand.

Sat:
We both slept in late woke up and headed to Suntec for the porridge buffet. YUM! They have quite a spread and what I love most about it is the DURIAN PUFF dessert. It is funny to see how a queue forms within seconds when a serving comes out from the kitchen. People turn into vultures just to feast on the durian puff. Their burbur terigu is also not bad. Yummy! Then we walked around for a while to shop before heading off to Pre-Anenatal class 2. Bought 2 sets of pyjamas for nursing from LaSenza.

Class was fun. We watched a video on the various kinds of labour pain relief. I'm still deciding between Epidural & Entonox.or perhaps TENS (tanscutaneous electrical nerve stimulation). TENS has been know not to be very effective so I guess its out. Epidural on the other hand is highly effective but I'm just really afraid of the needle going into the spinal area and the possible side effects of it as well. Entonox is fast but it can get one too high and sick after. Sigh... which one should i choose. I did tell Hubby to prepare his arm though. That will be my best bet but who knows what decision I will make when the pain is very intense. At class we also learnt 3 different breathing techniques for pain relieve during the 3 stages of labour. Hopefully I can remember it when the pain hits me.

Sunday was another relaxing day. Had steamboat at mum's for lunch then home to rest and back there for dinner before heading home to relax to prepare for Monday's module examination.

Recently I've noticed red lines on the lower portion of my tummy. Did a google. To my disappointment it looks like i've got stretch marks. The texture of the tummy is still smooth though. It seems somewhat internal.. hope it goes aways. =(

That's all for now.

OOoH Ahhh Ouch!!! Pain!!!

Today marks week 28. 7 months old already =)

The intital plan was to visit the gynae today however plans changed and I had to visit the gynae last friday instead.

Wednesday
Woke up feeling fine as usual. Went to the toilet for the normal morning routine. It was when I stood up that I felt a muscle pull somewhere near my tailbone. It was a really sharp pain. THe pain lingered on but it was still rather bearable. The intention was to have lunch with Papa. Not too sure where we wanted to eat so we lingered at home for a bit before heading to marina square. As we didn't have breakfast we decided to go for a buffet. Ended up at Aqua Marine to find that it was fully booked for lunch. =( So we ended up going to Imperial Kitchen for lunch. The journey out was rather torturous on my back. The pain seemed to have imobilised me. Reached home after lunch and all I wanted was just to lie down. Even when lying down i could feel the pain lingering on. I was really praying hard that it will go away after the nap as we got tickets to go watch Voyage De La Vie @ resort world. After waking from the nap, it was evident that I couldn't really walk. Even the few steps to the toilet seemed difficult as I was in great pain. Thus we had to forego the show. Luckily tickets were free. Papa bought dinner and washed up while I could only slowly inch my way back to the bed to lie down.

Thursday
Woke up. Slightly better but there was still much difficulty getting around. I couldn't stand straight at all. I was often hunching and walking around funny. What made it worst was that I could really feel the weight of the tummy on my back. Papa was on leave but he had a golf game in the afternoon so I rested in bed for most of the day.

Friday
The day we were suppose to head to Aqua Marine for our buffet lunch but yet once again never made it. The pain was still lingering in my back though MUCH better as compared to Weds and Thurs. Decided to call TMC to change my gynae appointment as I didn't want the pain to linger over the weekend. Finally I got a slot at 2pm. Papa was on leave to day as well. So he went out to buy breakfast from MacDonalds which we had at like 11am then rested a while before we headed to see Dr Tan. Didn't want to have lunch before going to see her as I was afraid that I have put on too much weight again. However the results was otherwise. I actually lost 500g. =) Not too sure if its a good thing but Dr Tan didn't really comment much. Dr Tan says that Baby R's heartbeat is really strong and he is in the correct position (head down, legs up). Currently he weighs 1kg. Oooo my fatty bom. After that we headed to Novena for a late lunch followed by a walk through the baby fair held at Square2. It was an utter failure I must say.. nothing much to see at all. Only about 10 stalls but I managed to buy for Baby R 4 more front button outfits. ♥♥♥ Then it was back home to rest my back once again.

Saturday
Papa had to work in the morning so I slept in. Was really tired and still nursing the aching back. Pain was a lot less but still there. So was very careful with all my movements. Cooked pasta for lunch and waited for Papa to come home. After that the both of us attended our very first pre-anenatal class by TMC. Was lots of fun.

1/2 the time was spent on listening about nutrition and how to breast feed.
the other 1/2 was on some simple excercises for mummies and daddies. Papa learnt how to massage mummy to soothe her aching body as well.

After the class we met my in-laws and the 2 kids for dinner before sending them back. By the time i reached home. I was ready to knock out.

Sunday
Papa had an early game of golf today. But he was so sweet. He sacrificed his 45 mins sleep to make breakfast for me. Sausage, Eggs, Bacon and Toast. YUMMY! Though it was the earliest I've ever woken in a long time to have breakfast but I woke up just because I felt special that day. Didn't want to disapoint papa too. It was really really sweet of him. After breakfast, he left for golf while i headed back to sleep.

When Papa came back from golf, we headed to pick up his race pack for the Safra 1/2 marathon from Kallang before heading to bishan for a hair cut, then to church and dinner at Akashi before home. =)Initally we wanted to go to Sushi Tei @ Holland V but parking is just pure madness there. Dinner @ Akashi, Orchard Parade hotel was YUMMLICIOUS. Will definately be going back there again. I so miss IKOI!

Till our next post.

Shoppiing Time.

Today marks week 27. Almost 7 months now.

The tummy is getting bigger and slightly heavier. Last week we stayed at Mummy's Mummy's hse as well as Ah Ma was still away on holiday. On Weds night, Papa was not around as he had to go overseas and was only back on Sat. Mummy was so lonely at home without papa. However she had me with her. I often gave her kicks to say good morning and good night. Ain't I a good boy. Whenever mummy feels sad, I'll always reassure her by kicking her so that she knows that I'm there with her. =)
Sat was a rather eventful day for mummy. She met up with Auntie L, Auntie M and Auntie Y for breakfast at this place called epicurious at Robertson Quay. Food was okay only. Typical western. Mummy still prefers Jones some how.. maybe because of the hot chocolater. *SLURP* I ♥ the hot chocolate at JONES too!!! After breakfast, mummy accompanied Auntie Y to Arab St to look for some fabric materials before they popped by Auntie L's shop then headed to Centrepoint to look at some baby stuff. It has been a long since mummy had any frappe ice blended drink. So Auntie Y and Mummy took a short shopping break at Starbucks. Mummy drank the Green Tea Ice Blend. Tasted like icecream... SO YUMMMY! After that they headed to Auntie Y's newly renovated house to looksie looksie. It is a really BIG BIG house. So nicely done up. Though Auntie Y still has a lot of unpacking to do. =) Papa came home just in time for dinner. Although mummy wanted to spend some time with Papa over dinner. Papa suggested that we brought Aunty Su out to break fast as she has been working very hard at Ah Ma's hse. Intially we wanted to go to Geyland Serai to looksie at the pasar malam but it was sooooo super pack so in the end we headed to east coast hawker for dinner. YUMMY there was SATAY! My first time having some satay! After dinner it was late lo. Papa wanted to take a walk by the east coast but mummy says that its 7th Month liao so better not. After such a full dinner we headed home to sleep. Mummy was also tired after being out for such a long time.

Sunday
Papa and mummy slept in rather late today. They slept till about 10+ am. By the time they got out of bed to brush teeth and get ready for church it was already like 11:20am no time for breakfast so they had muffins which mummy made 2 days ago. YUMMY banana walnut muffins. Headed to church then we went to Crystal Jade for some dim sum lunch at Takashimaya. Papa was such a gem that day. He really spent lotsa quality time with mummy and made her sooooo happy. After lunch, mummy bought PAPA some japanese ice-cream. Papa had green tea flavour while mummy had black sesame. Shiok! Then they walked around TAKA for a while. Mummy wanted to get some mooncakes but seeing the crowd they decided not to walk in. After that we went paragon to collect Papa's new watch then a little bit of shopping. Everyone in the family got something new. Mummy bought 6 new pieces of clothing from GingerSnaps. Papa got a new pair of shoes from Metro Hush Puppies and I got 3 new body suits from FOX. It was a happy family shopping day. By the time we reached home, it was already 6:30pm. Sooo tired. Saw Ah Ma & Gong Gong as they arrived back home today. I got presents from them too!! A Walker, A Baby Sling Carrier and a T-shirt from San Francisco. After a while mummy headed upstairs to prepare for work the next day while Papa stayed downstairs to watch the Rally Speech by our PM. When the speech ended, Papa came upstairs and we all went to sleep as a family. =)

Till next week when I'm 7th months old

Less than 100 days to go ♥♥♥

Today marks week 26 of the pregnancy and its less than 100 days till we welcome our little precious into the world.

The weekend has once again been a really fulfilling one. Poor Papa though. He works hard during weekdays at work and equally hard at home preparing for Baby's R arrival.

Last week, I finally posted on facebook about baby R in my tummy. Received lots of well wishes from friends. Everyone is excited to see Baby R. We simply can't wait as well though not really looking forward to the "sleep less" nights.

Sat morning started with a late breakfast at MacDonalds. YUM YUM! 1/2 the breakfast was sponsored by Pig who passed me some vouchers earlier in the week. After that we headed down Newton to collect some "hand me downs" from cousin val and desmond. Didn't expect to have so many bags of clothes. We even got a new stroller which had a little difficulty opening at first but with a little 4WD oil it works well. Intending to leave the stroller @ mum's so that they can use it when they take the baby out on walks. This one is a little lighter than the one we got from the states. =) After picking up the clothes, we headed to have lunch with my in-laws and the 2 kids (Augustine & Helena) then my MIL also passed me another BIG bag of clothes (brand new) for Baby R. Looks like we won't be buying much clothes for BABY R since there are already so many people who are passing them on. Lucky Baby R! I really feel thankful for the hand me downs as babies grow up so quickly and these clothes are usually used for a short period of time only. As much as I would like to get everything brand new for Baby R but I know its not practical.

Sat evening was Papa's BWC dinner with the guys. I on the other hand thought that it would be nice to have dinner with the partners at a seperate location as well. Good opportunity for us to chit chat without the guys and bond together. So while the boys had their dinner @ Long Beach Dempsey. The ladies had ours @ PS Cafe. Its was overall a very enjoyable time. The group of us include Frodine, Xiao Ting, Felicia, Erica and myself. After dinner, xiaoting and felicia did ask if they could feel the tummy. =) Though no kicks but they seems quite excited to feel baby R in the tummy.

Sunday we woke to have breakfast then church before heading over to David's house warming @ Inspira. Nice cosy place I must say for a bachelor's pad. He's got good taste in terms of the finishings and colour scheme. The gathering was nice to have. Seems like that group is slowly moving into parenthood. We've got Baby Issac (TK&HH) and upcoming Baby J (Addy & Josh) in 2 weeks, Baby R (clement & myself) and Baby * (LS & LL). Soon it will be a full fledge baby parties. =) After the house warming, we headed to IKEA to get a chest of drawer. Its called MALM. Papa was very good. Once he got home, immdiately he went on to fix the whole chest of drawers by himself. I couldn't really help as it was PANTANG for pregnant ladies to even watch the process. He's a good Papa though. So he went to get it fixed while I took a nap. When I woke, he said that there were some parts that were warped and we had to head back to Ikea to get it swopped. By the time we got home it was already like 1030pm. I was already almost flat out but Papa was good. He worked through it and got it all done up by 1110. Well done PAPA!

Now its up to me to get the baby clothes sorted into the various month category and get the clothes washed and put into the new cupboard. =)

Monday
Back to work as usual. Got most of my immediate work sorted out. In the evening, Baby R started his kicking. This time he was really kicking very often for about 3 hours. What can I say. He's our active little Kungfu Master. =)

Today Marks the 6th Month + 1 week (25 weeks)

It has been a rather busy weekend for Papa and Mama. On Sat, grandma, grandpa and uncle E headed to the states. Uncle E is heading over to Berkley to study for a year. Oh what an experience that will be. We went to the airport to send them off. Had lunch there as well. Mama had to order well done steak because of me. However what they served her was overly well done that it was BLACK. CHARRED GRILLED BLACK. She had to sent back to the kitchen. Luckily ah ma ordered nuggets so I got to eat some before having yummy steak.

Sunday Mama woke up early to have breakfast with Papa before he went to play golf. After that she went home to sleep cos she was really tired. She slept another 3 hours before waking to go pick papa up from golf. Then they went to have fish soup at Bugis then to Sim Lim for a while before heading to home to pack bags. As Ah Ma and Ah Gong are not around, mummy will be staying there with papa to jagar the house. Good also everyday got Auntie Su to help to wash clothes and prepare meals. =)

I gave mummy a surprise on Monday night. Decided to play drums from within her tummy. I used all my might to play a rhythm for her and papa to feel. It lasted for about 2-3 mins. I'm a STRONG boy! The next morning (today) I also started mummy's day by gently tapping on her tummy to wake her up cos she needs to go to work. Mummy says that I like to play Kungfu at night and Tai Chi in the morning.

Sometime this week, mummy will be heading down to cousin's justin and jonathon's place to pick out some hand me down clothes for me. =)

Till the next post.

Our Little Patriot

Today marks 24 weeks or 6 months of the pregnancy. =)

Last weekend was a SUPER LONG weekend because of National Day that falls on the Monday. I didn't realise that I scheduled the gynae's visit on the following day 10th August (today). So instead of having a 3 day long weekend. I have a 4 day long weekend. This means that the coming week is only a 3 day work week for me. WOO HOO!

Its been a busy long weekend though.

7th Aug Sat
Mum had a pain in her knee so in the morning I had to bring her to the hospital. The doc injected some gel like thing and I guess it kindda acts as a lubricant for knees. So hopefully she feels better in no time. After that I had to go to some ulu factory to pick up some stuff for my dad. Luckily hubby went with me. We had BK for lunch after... HMMMM YUM! Mushroom Swiss. My Favourite BK Burger. By the time we reached home to rest it was already like 3+ pm. Being pregant, going out for such long hours is really no joke. Its somehow very tiring both physically and mentally. Konked out after reaching home till about 6+. Hubby and I then headed to YMCA for some yummy claypot chicken rice. What I really like about YMCA is the food is reasonably priced, there's aircon and its not crowded. Then we went to Takashimaya for the BABY fair 2010 just to get a sensing of the
prices. It was a little crazy in there with so many big bellied women walking here and there. They should really make the aisles a little wider. There were plenty to see but being a first time mum and dad, we were both a little confused and overwhelmed by the products that we ended up buying ony nappies, liners and a bed protector (from pee). I saw a really cute pair of booties as well. It was a blue bear pair that I couldn't resist and I knew I wanted to get it for Baby R. Hubby said OK so we got that ask well. Along with these items we also bought 2 sets of front button clothes for BABY R. There have been lots of people telling us that front button clothings are important especially in the first few weeks as the neck and the head of the newborn will be really soft so extra care is needed. Was at the fair only for about an hour. Then we had some couple time together watching the movie INCEPTION. So was it a dream or reality at the end of the day?

8th August
Today started out with a sleep in. We both woke only at about 10am. Shiokness. To be able to sleep is a luxury. We only ahve about 3 more months of this luxury before baby R comes along. He shall be trained to sleep more as well. =) I made breakfast then we headed to Church for service then back to mum's for some yummy teochew porridge. After which we did our weekly groceries before heading to pick Hubby's nephews over for a swim. They've been longing to come for a long long time. We've just been too busy. At the end of the day, the whole family (sister's) came over to swim. They even brought hotdogs and strawberries. For tea. They had about 2 hr of fun at the pool before we had to head off to J's place for his house warming. Brought the 2 boys along. It was also Justin's birthday. He had a very specially ordered AGAR AGAR Thomas the Train cake. Delicious to be served for desert. =)

9th August:
Happy Birthday Singapore.
The day started early as Mum wanted the whole family to go for a photo taking session at Raffles Marina. JD has obtained his doctorate recently and thus the reason for a family shoot. We had breakfast there then headed to Skinny Ah Ma''s hse where the news that I was pregnant was told to her. Could really see that she was happy. Dua Kor and family were there as well so the news has been broken to them too. =)

After Ah Ma's Hse, we went for lunch with Hubby's parents followed by an afternoon nap back home. Woke up in time to watch the National Day Parade on TV.

Now the story of OUR Little PATRIOT. Hubby says that he is indeed a boy. WHY? Because he hasn't really been very active in kicking recently. Only with a slight thud here and there just before bed time. However during the NDP telecast, BABY R gave thunder kicks when the tanks were on display. Every time he heard the sounds of the aerial display, he also kicked hard. Another time during the show when he was kicking excitedly was during the singing of the National Athem. Hence we have come to a conclusion that this is OUR LITTLE PATRIOT. While watching IP man that was broadcast on Ch U, baby also got excited when the kungfu scenes were on. Will he be our little Kungfu Master?

10th August:
Today marks the 6th Month of the pregnancy. Baby is well. Checkup was as usual. His current weight is 703g. Mummy is putting on too much weight according to Dr WK Tan. Time to control the intake of food. =)

Till next week.

23 Weeks and Counting!!!

Baby is 23 weeks old today.

Time really flies. We are almost reaching the 6th months mark soon how exciting! =)
Last sat, mummy went to learn knitting from one of the aunties from the motherhood forum. She's intending to knit me my first pair of booties. Mummy has no confidence in getting the project finish but I know she will get it done cos she's making it with LOVE for me.

In the afternoon, mummy and papa went to check out baby stuff for me. They checked out Cots and Carriers but till now they are rather clueless about what is essential and what is unecessary. So not buying anything much yet. =)

Mummy had class yesterday and all the Kor kor and Jie Jies in class were guessing how old I was. It was mummy's last day with that class. Though they are a bunch of notti monkees but mummys says that they are still a rather fun class. =)

I've been a very good boy, letting PAPA feel my Thunder Kick. Papa always feels so happy being able to feel the kick. =) I must kick more for PAPA and MAMA to feel. =)

1 more week till we go see Dr Tan then Papa and Mama can see me on the ultra sound machine once again. =)

And its a THUNDER Kick!

Today marks 22 weeks and 2 days.

Mummy's been forgetting to blog on the exact week recently. But its okay, should only blog when there's something to write about right?

Papa came home on Sat. Mummy was so happy. Her excitement of having Papa home tired her out that on Monday she fell asleep at 730pm. That's really early considering that Mummy is kindda addicted to the HK drama at the moment. Papa came home with my new clothes. He bought 29 pieces in total. All so colourful and bright! Can't wait to get them fitted on me. In addition, Papa also bought me a spunking red sweater from United Colours of Benetton. Its so super cool. I PAPA!

Besides the clothes, we met Godpa for dinner that night. Godpa thought that mummy was craving chicken rice but actually it was Papa's craving. My ride (stroller) has also arrived in Singapore all the way from the U.S.A! All thanks to Godpa in assisting us with the purchase and delivery to SG. Its really cool! You got to check it out when I'm born ok?

Sunday's Breakfast was yummy as well. Mummy woke with a glitter in her eye and it was all because Papa was back to wake beside her. She was super HAPPY. She asked Papa.. do you know what I would like for breakfast? Papa was so smart! He replied: Yup! JONES. So we headed to JONES the Grocer for brunch. It was YUMMY! I superly like the HOT CHOCOLATE there!

Mummy has been saying that I'm a Fatty BOM BOM! Cos I always kick before and during meal times but after meals I'm quiet as though I'm asleep. Cannot blame me what! The food that mummy feeds me with is so delicious so of course I get excited to eat all the time!

Yesterday (Wed), on the way home from work, mummy told me to be a good boy to let papa feel my kick. She said that everytime papa wants to feel, I'm notti and stop kicking. So i decided to let daddy feel my THUNDER kick yesterday. I kicked alot so that mummy cannot say I notti boi. I'm a good boi so I listened to mummy. Papa was excited over the kick. He was so happy. =)

I'm growing up well! 3.5 more months till I see the world with my own eyes!

Today marks baby's 5th month. 20 weeks to be exact.

The past 2 weeks have been crazy. Hubby has been so busy that he had little time to spend with me. Moreover he was also away for the past week which made me miss him even more. The home became a house. A place where I came to rest, shower, sleep and then off to work in the morning once again. Missing him tugged my heart a lot but its not like I really had a choice. Work is work.

Picked Hubby up from the airport yesterday. Flight touched down at 3:10pm from Amsterdam but I could only arrive at 4:10pm due to class. Rang hubby on the way down but the phone was constantly off. I had no choice but to park and wait at the belt. When i arrived at the belt, there were no luggages on the belt though it was still moving. Funnily the thoughts that went through my mind was oh he's still on the plane. Wonder how my miswired brain could have thought that Changi Airport would be so inefficient. Haha... waited and waited but no one appeared. Instead there was this other group of people that arrived on another flight crowding the next belt. After a while, I got a call from hubby. His phone was flat so had to use the free payphone. =) So happy to see him. Got a hug and a kiss and off we were together once again.

As usual, hubby had to head to sqdn to get some stuff settled so he dropped me at tampines mall to walk while i waited for him. Met up again at 7pm and we had dinner at Sushi Tei. Wanted Japanese food but quite sianz that I couldn't have sashimi. =( Its ok. All for the baby! SOON SOON! I'll be stuffing my face with SASHIMI! =)

Hubby gave me a present from COACH. Didn't expect him to buy much for me due to his busy work schedule but it made me happy. =) Another surprise he gave me was that he was delaying his next trip out for another day, that means he gets to go to the gynae with me and we get to know the GENDER today. Hmmm... what will it be XX or XY? hahahah to be updated. =)

Past the 1/2 way mark.

Today marks week 19. We skipped a week as mummy was too busy to blog.

The past week has been a busy week for mummy and dadddy. Mummy has had heaps of work to clear and was often very tired by the end of the day. Daddy.. as usual always busy... but that's only because he is working hard to provide a good life for mummy and baby.

Last Sat was Uncle Ching Hao and Auntie Frodine wedding. Its funny how everything comes back in one full circle just like a wedding ring.

3rd July 2005 marks the day that Daddy spotted Mummy on the streets of perth. She captured his heart almost immediately and Uncle Ching Hao played daddy's wing man in capturing her attention. =)

When Mummy and Daddy got married. Uncle Ching Hao was also daddy's best man.

3rd July 2010 marks the day Uncle Ching Hao married Auntie Frodine and Daddy was the best man.

The dinner party was not your usual traditional style wedding. In fact it was relaxing and very chic. Mummy enjoyed herself though she has to carry heavy me around in her tummy. She even had a couple dance with Daddy to the song "Love Story". Sooo Sweet! I was kiap in the middle. Heehee.

Daddy is headed off to Holland today for training then to Cambodia next week. All together daddy's going to be away for 3 weeks.... mummy is feeling a little sad cos she knows she's going to miss dadddy lots. But its okay I will accompany mummy and keep her happy. =)

Till next week when I'm 5 months old, I'll do my reporting again. =)

Oh so Romantic...

Today marks week 16. Baby is 4 months old.

Didn't really plan to celebrate but mummy and daddy had breakfast together this morning. This is something really rare as daddy usually goes to work slightly earlier and mummy tends to sleep in a little more. Daddy was able to head in to work late today so mummy requested to have breakfast with her then send her to work. =) Daddy said ok agreeing the sacrifice that 1/2 and hour of sleep. =)

The morning was covered with thick dark clouds and the rain poured down heavily. There were even some reports of flash floods on the radio but that didn't dampen their mood. It was a nice romantic walk hand in hand under the brolly from the car to breakfast. Mummy had mee siam while daddy had his usual toast, eggs and kopi.

Mummy can't wait for this Saturday's scan of baby. She's really hoping that she'll be able to see the gender so that she can start purchasing some cutie stuff togther with her dress orders from the states. =)

A proposal exactly 3 years ago.

Today marks the start of week 15 of the pregnancy. Was feeling a little fluey this morning. Not a good sign. I do hope that it will go away somehow on its own without blowing up. Being sick is not good for mummy or baby. Slept with the aircon off last night. It was a torture for hubby as I was tossing and turning from the heat but with the aircon on, i couldn't breath cos of the block nose. But he was still a darling and kissed me in the morning when he waked. Baby has been growing well I think. Once in a while I will feel a slight stretch on the left side of the tummy. Wonder if baby is kicking... 1.5 weeks to the next scan. EXCITING!

This morning also marks our proposal anniversary. One of the few anniversaries we celebrate. Oh how time flies. Its already been 3 years. The scenes are still so fresh in my mind. It seemed as though God was on his side planning the proposal. I remember driving to Indiana Tea House where I was suppose to meet my girlies for dinner. I was not very familiar with the route and ended up taking a longer route. On the way it was drizzling slightly but somehow I felt God's presence with me. I even saw 2 full arcs of rainbow which was right infront of me while I was driving. It was absolutely stunning beyond words. When I reached the Tea House and parked my car. I saw the most beautiful Sun in the distant horizon. At that moment I rang then bf now hubby to tell him I miss him so much but his phone was off. Little did I know that he was already in the restaurant waiting for me. =) Awwww.... what a perfect romantic proposal it was.

Week 14

Today we've finally reached week 14. Seems like not too long ago that we actually discovered that I was pregnant with baby.

Week 14 has improved certain aspects of the pregnant mummie's life. Sleep is much better as there is not as much frequency to head to the toilet to pee. At most its once a night or none at all. This is quite good. Cravings wise... not too different. Bread has seem to have gone bland on the tongue. I prefer food there is more flavoursome and salty. Hunger pangs have decreased slightly. Its amazing how I can don't feel like eating this minute and the very next minute I'm super hungry and I want to eat right now. Just like right now, i feel like a plate of fried noodles... hmmm YUM!!!!

Since last week mummy has started to swim a little. Not as much as she use to as she wants to be very careful of the little baby inside.

Week 13

Its the start of week 13... YAY first trimester is almost over. Some people say first trimester ends at week 13 some say it ends at week 14. This week is a happy week. Appetitte seems to be much less and I seem to be able to stay awake longer though I should really be sleeping lots and resting. Tastebuds have also taken a turn. Things are starting to taste really bland. As much as I appreciate mummy cooking for me lunch, I'm getting abit tired of the food. Am i just being picky?

I pray and hope that Baby is growing fine and healthy inside of me.

Just a few days ago I dreamt of baby. Baby was a boy with nice straight silky hair in a boyish manner. So super cute. That dream really made me sooo super happy. When i told hubby about it, he said that that was the exact same hairstyle he had as a kid. The best thing is I've never seen any photos of hubby's similar hairstyle before. Oh what a coincidence... could it be a boy? We wouldn't know til week 20. =)

A surprise that made me go WOW!

Today was a day after week 12. Decided to break the news to a few of my collegues so that they wouldn't think that I was just growing fatter and fatter. Once again, wednesday is a day to clear FYP meeting and any outstanding work. Somehow one day just doesn't seem enough. Stayed back a little than usual just to try to clear as much as possible. At about 5:23pm today, I received a call from the clinic. Wasn't expecting their call till tomorrow morning. The results for the OSCAR test was out.

Nurse: Hi, may I speak to Kimberly Wee?

Me: Speaking.

Nurse: I'm calling from WC Cheng & Associates on behalf of Dr WK Tan. This is regarding your OSCAR test result.

Me: Oh.

Nurse: Your results is out and your risk is low. L-O-W Low.

Me: Oh what's the ratio 1: ?

Nurse: 15021

Me: *I got so excited that I said with a loud exclaimated voice* WOW!

Nurse: Had a slight giggle on her end on how shock and happy I was. =)

A day at the OSCARS

Woke up this morning feeling a little rather excited. It was the day of OSCAR test meaning I'm currently at 12 weeks! YAY! Though I found myself to be pregnant only at week 7. The 5 weeks to this milestone seemed like eternity. Hubby wasn't free to take leave today, thus mummy accompanied me to the hospital for the check up.

Picked mum up at 8am then headed to TMC. The first thing I did at TMC was to sign up for the First Born Incentive (FBI) card. This will entitle me to a 10% discount off my OSCAR testing. Moreover there were freebies that came along with the card. Thus for $148, we'll probably be getting more value out of the card. What I didn't like was along with the card, I had to fill in 5-8 other information forms from the various baby product companies. I guess by filling in the information, I'll probably get some milk samples and freebies in return? Hopefully not spamming.

Then I headed to WC Cheng and Associates, took my little red book out and stood on the antique looking weighing machine to weigh myself. WOOPS! My weight has increased by 1.5kg since the last weigh in 2 weeks ago... gotta eat right but cut down on my sugary stuff. Checked in with the nurse to slot my appointment booklet with her then headed up to the 4th floor for the oscar test.

The wait for the scan wasn't long since I already booked my time slot at 9am. I think the nurses there must be thinking I'm Kiasu or something. 9am appointment come at 830am. Sat around waiting for about 5 mins before my name was called. Went into the ultrasound room alone first, sonographer checked my details before commencing on the scan.

It was AMAZING!!! For the very first time, I can see my baby using the scan from the top of my belly (previously it was too smal too scan through my layers of FATS). The scan was so detailed so clear. We could see the baby's head, bum, nose and even the fingers and toes. Baby was so CUTE!! The feeling of being able to see him/her on the screen was totally undescrible. After taking all the measurements that was needed, the sonographer then called my mum in to take a look at the baby. Mum was EXCITED. The sonographer even said that the baby has a sharp nose and was sleeping with the hand over the head. All mum could say was" So cute! So cute!" I could tell that she was really HAPPY!

After about 15-20mins with the sonographer we thanked her and proceeded on to do the next step. Collect Urine sample then to the lab to draw blood. My initial impression from reading off forums was that I needed to take only 3 test tubes of blood. The lab assistant first strapped my left arm to locate a suitable vein. After tapping a few times, i told her usually most will take from my right arm cos the veins on my left are too big. She looked at me then strapped my right arm to check for the vein. After she agreed that it was the better arm to draw blood from, she inserted the needle. Obviously I didn't look at her insert it as I was a scary cat to do so. So I stared at the blank white wall to my left. Then she drew not 3 but 5 tubes of blood *_*.

After that I headed down then for my gynae appointment. Saw the Dr within 5 mins and told me that baby is doing well. =) So super HAPPY.

A silly little thing..

I did a very silly thing yesterday. It was the first time in this pregnancy that I cried. I actually felt so upset that I cried. Looking back I don't even know why I would have cried. Afterall it was only over a piece of chocolate peanut donut.

When hubby mentioned that he'll be in phuket for a stop over and will be buying donuts, I did specially request for a chocolate peanut donut. I started thinking about it in the morning and even after dinner I was thinking about it already. Pregnancy makes once mind go a little ga-ga over food i guess. Been having all sorts of cravings but haven't really satisfied any of them. From Prata to Satay to Hokkien Mee and Horfun...... loads of other food but all I've been eating is bread and home cooked meals which is starting to taste rather bland. Because of my regular meals at mum's I don't get the chance to head out to buy nice stuff to eat. Instead I only can think of my cravings and tell myself its the pregnancy hormones only, I don't really have to eat it. All this while I've been suppressing my tastebuds till a point i guess my emotions started to take over tonight.

While Hubby went to take a shower, i decided to peek at the donut box. Opened it up and saw there was other types except for my chocolate peanut donut. I looked at a reciept that was on top of the box and there stated that among the lot that was bought (and distibuted) there were 2 chocolate peanut donuts that were purchase but why wasn't it in my box? Dissapointement started to sink in....

Me: Where's my chocolate peanut donut?
Hubby: In the box.
Me: Don't have.. you go and see..
Hubby: *takes a look* and say there this one (*pointing to a donut filled with cream and some nuts sprinkled on top*)
Me: Don't bluff me. That's not it.
Hubby: Oh no more already.
Me: But your reciept say you bought 2.
Hubby: Oh I must have given the wrong box to your mum.
Me: *super sad at this pt* You call her to ask her to reserve the donut for me.

Hubby calls mum only to find out that she has the same taste buds as me and has already consumed the donut. He hangs up the phone and tells me the bad news and I start to cry.

I felt really upset at this point as though the donut was really very important to make me happy for the day but I didn't get to eat it. I kicked up a fuss while he tried to coax me to eat another one. I said no I don't want... I was so upset that I became so hungry and tired. After about 15 mins I chose another donut to eat then went to sleep.. feeling so unloved and unimportant.

Baby is growing...

Baby is now 9 weeks and 3 days old... another 3 weeks and the first trimester will be over.

Increasingly I've been getting sleepier. Somehow I also seem to be in need of sleep. At times in the morning after I wake just within 1-2 hours I'll feel sleepy again but because of work I can't fall asleep in the office. The past few days have been really tiring but I've been happy. I do feel something in my tummy.. sometimes i wonder if it is a fiction of my imagination or is it really there and me feeling the baby.

Hubby dearest has been busy with work in the SQD. From some of my reading materials, I read that expectant fathers can sometimes feel left out of the pregnancy. Firstly mums get the morning sickness and have to carry the bub around. However dads lead their life as normal and only can to see mums and bubs in the evening after work. With Hubby's work being so busy sometimes I wonder how he feels. Oh well the weekend is coming. Let's hope he gets more time to spend with me and bub. I want him to be a part of every step. I want to tell him everything that I feel about bub. =)

Next Appt with Gynae : 4th May 2010.

222 Days to go...

Its amazing how there is this life inside of you. Sometimes you feel, sometimes you wonder if its you just being FAT. Admittedly my hunger pangs are almost every 2-3 hours. At this rate that I'm eating, you start to wonder if its the baby or me just growing fat. =) I should start to look at my eating pattern and try to subsitute what I've been eating with Fruits and good food that is nutritious for baby. =)

On a different note, school was great today. I enjoy having a small class. My focus and attention on each student is better. We implemented the compulsory quiz today. From the results of it so far, it looks promising.

A New Life...

Its been almost a year now since i last touched this blog. I know I've been really lazy. My honeymoon is still stuck at Day4. Woopsie Daisy... just too many photos and lots of procrisination.

Well, the good news is I'm back. Not many people know about this blog but its okay. Its only meant for people close to me anyways.

Been having lots of problems with trying for a kid. As some may know my menstration cycle has been rather warped for the past year. It can be delayed for like 50,60 or even 80 days. Yes... 80day... which means i get menses only 3 times a year. Truthfully I rather spend the money on sanitary pads then have this warped cycle.

Visited Dr WK Tan some time in march to seek advice about my problem. Went to another gynae (which was such a horrible experience) prior to her as well as a TCM. Both didn't seem to work. Really like Dr WK Tan. She's a really nice warm doctor whom I feel so comfortable with. Did a pap smear test in March and I didn't even feel a thing (have heard horrific stories on how it can really hurt). Yes! That is how good she is.

Our second appointment was on 17th April 2010 (sat). Reached there REALLY early just to get a car park at the hospital and we wanted to be the first to register as waiting for a gyane can really be a pain. I remember one of the nurses telling me at my last visit that I should be prepared as the waiting time can go from 1 hour to 3 hours. @_@. Anyways we parked and yes I was not the first at the clinic... =( there was already one other person but i guess we were seeing different docs. PHEW. Imagine... consultations start at 9am and i was there at 8:10am. The nurses were busy with setting up the place for the day. By the time I was allowed to register it was 8:20am.

Nurse: Have you taken your weight?

Me: Nope. Must take ah?

Nurse: Yes, everytime u come must go take weight.

Me: *runs to take weight then comes back to the counter and tells weight to the nurse.* Nurse but I'm not pregant why must always take weight?

Nurse: Oh you not pregnant ah. When was your last menses?

Me: 15th Jan.

Nurse: You brought your temperature chart?

Me: Yes... here it is.

Nurse: *looks at chart* Have you taken a pregnancy test?

Me: No. My menses don't come 80 days quite normal one.

Nurse: Your temperature so high. Got chance you might be pregant. You want to take test? But must pay money.

Me: Oh.. how much?

Nurse: $15.

Me: Okay take lor.

Nurse: You wait ah. I go check with the senior nurse first whether you must take test.

*waits with hubby while my tummy grumbles.

Me: * after about 10 mins* Can i go eat breakfast?

Nurse: Wait. * she then goes to the back and comes back out with my file.* Ok you go take the test first.

Me: Can I go drink water first... inside empty.

Nurse: Oh nothing ah... okay you know where to drink water right.. Drink already take this to the lab. (*hands me a slip of paper)

Went to take a glass of water then headed to lab to get a cup for Urine sample and passed to lab assistant.

Me: *back at the waiting area* Can I go have breakfast? Doctor comes in at 9am right? (timecheck 8:30am)

Nurse looks at Senior Nurse who is holding my records and says "Eh you have kimberly wee's file?"

Senior Nurse looks at me and talks to the Nurse: "Yes, what she want?"

Nurse:" She want to go eat breakfast?"

Senior Nurse checks time and says to me "Can only go Delifrance ah! and come back quickly."

Wha piang so fierce... I quickly grab hubby and we went to makan.

After breakfast, we went back to the clinic to wait for DR Tan. At about 9:15am, a nurse asked me to go into the room to get me prepared for Dr Tan. She laid me down on the bed and asked me if i needed folic acid. I said I still have. Then I said I only need to collect some vitamin E ( was told by the clinic a few days earlier to collect vit E on my next visit) . Then the nurse replied... no need already. I was a little surprised and happy but yet still unsure.... (Vitamin E was mean to help me increase the probability of conceiving), then she came behind the curtain and held my right arm and said with a smile... " You know right, you are pregnant." I replied..." I didn't know... you just told me."

At that moment my heart skipped a beat. I was happy yet shocked that I am a mum to be. COuldn't see hubby's face as he was behind the curtains but I know he must have felt what I felt at that very moment.

Dr Tan came in moments later and did a scan for me. Couldn't see anything from the normal ultra sound so she had to do an internal scan. It was then that we could see the baby on the screen. Hubby was then asked to join us behind the curtain to take a look at the screen. He was so excited. We were able to measure the length of the baby using the crown-rump method (13.4mm) and see the Yolk Sac (food storage for the baby) as well. How exciting! The doctor also showed us the twinkling heartbeat of our baby.

After that mini excitement, we then sat down at the Doc's desk to talk about this new baby of ours. She mentioned that currently like all other pregnancies, I have to be very careful. Pregnancies are usually stable only after the first trimester. Currently I'm already 7 weeks and 4 days (as of 17th April) pregnant. So will come back for a check up in two weeks time to make sure that the baby is growing fine. Then she went on to brief me on what I can eat, should eat and should avoid. Excercise as well. =)

YAY we are becoming parents now. Next stage of our lives together as a family.

We went to my mum's after to break the good news to the Happy Grandparents to be. =)
